3G iPhone on the Way

According to AT&T Mobility CEO, Ralph de la Vega, that he expects all their smart integrated devices to be 3G in the next couple of months. When asked if that included the iPhone, he reiterated that we are going to see their integrated devices to be 3G in the not-to-distant future, meaning months.

Well sound the horns and stop buying the iPhone ladies and gentlemen because we finally have the inside scoop and of course we didn't hear it from Apple but this is the next best thing. I will certainly upgrade my iPhone if the 3G phone lives up to all the hype.

3G technologies enable network operators to offer users a wider range of more advanced services while achieving greater network capacity through improved spectral efficiency. Usually the speed is between 5-10 Mb per second. For the service provider, 3G supports greater numbers of voice and data customers at higher data rates at lower incremental cost than 2G.

Everyone knew this would be coming eventually and I highly doubt we will see any rebates or coupons offered to current iPhone owners to upgrade their devices. I do remember that Steve Jobs mentioned that the power usage of 3G technology was an issue and I will certainly wait to hear the review on that issue before I commit to buying a new iPhone. Although, I might be willing to sacrifice battery life for faster Internet. I look forward to hearing more details about the new device and what other special features it will offer, if any.
