I ran into this issue the other day and found this quick tip.
Open the Device Manager and find the USB drive
Right click the drive and select Properties.
Choose Policies tab and select the "Optimize for performance" option.
Then Format the Drive in NTFS Format. Make sure to do a full format a quick format will not work.
The reason why I had to do this was that I had a 4.5gb file that I need to copy to another comp. But when I tried to copy the file it kept on giving me an error. I remembered something about fat32 being the issue so I made these changes and the file copied over with no prob.
