Recently I installed Microsoft Search Server 2008 (it is a Google for all of your documents on a file server or website) on one of my servers in my server farm. All I have to say is WOW. This is a hidden jewel in MS vault. I was shocked how powerful it was and all for the low price of zero dollars. One problem I did have was that all my PDF docs where getting indexed but it seemed like they never came up in searches.

After some research I found the problem. I was missing this tiny application called Ifilter6.0. Its from adobe and helps your sharepoint server scan threw PDF files. Make sure you reindex your sharepoint server or the files still wont come up. Now if I can figure out how to refine my searchs I will be golden. Hope this was helpful to some one.
